Ray Eitel-Porter is an expert in AI governance and ethics. He is Senior Adviser for Responsible AI to Accenture and, through Lumyz Advisory, provides independent consulting.
Ray advises on principles and policy, governance, areas of risk (such as bias, explainability, reliability and sustainability), controls, capabilities and supporting platforms and technologies. Ray’s practical experience across industries and the public sector helps organisations scale their use of AI with confidence, with projects including multi-year programs at a global bank, a global retailer and a major health brand. He helped commercialise the first AI algorithmic fairness tool and led the design and build of Accenture’s internal AI compliance program covering 700,000 employees in 120 countries.
Ray is a Senior Research Associate for Responsible AI at the Intellectual Forum, Jesus College Cambridge, and has led ethical AI research collaborations with Stanford, MIT, The Alan Turing Institute and the Institute for AI Ethics at Oxford University. He authored “Beyond the promise: implementing ethical AI” in The Journal of AI Ethics (2020; 70+ citations), and numerous subsequent publications.
In addition to having lived and worked in the UK, US and Germany, Ray has worked extensively in Asia and the Gulf.
